This album was recorded mostly outside, always in secluded and secret places, by streams and rivers and in the woods and sometimes in a little bungalow.

Credits

Tunes 1, 5, 7 and 9 were written by Roo
(“Magpies’ rest”, “Watling Street”,”blind horse” and “Emperor”)

Tunes 2,3,4,6,8, and 10 are traditional songs from way back when, by unknown (or half-guessed-at) composers

(More information is available about each song individually)

This album was recorded, produced, arranged, mixed (and what have you) by Roo

Roo played:
Guitar, banjo, singing, flutes, accordion, melodica, percussion, piano.

[NB Mark Knott plays a spot of pibgorn in the instrumental section of Tune 10 (“Wassail song”)
and he also sings backing on Tune 4 “Petition for the Pigs of Kent’}
[also on that same song is my pal Connor F. who just sort spoke some of the words and I managed to record him!]

I would like to thank Aoibheann Devlin for encouraging me to seek out the folk songs from Kent,
And also thanks be to Nick Andrews, who was my music teacher when I was a little lad many years ago, and who surely helped me at such an influential stage.

And thanks be to my parents too, for their many kindnesses.

[album cover was drawn and designed by Roo. its a drawing of Nantosuelta.]
